2 Meters (144 Mhz through 148 Mhz)

The band ranges from 144 to 148 MHz in ITU Region 2 & 3; from 144 to 146 MHz in ITU Region 1. Primarily used for local communications within a range of about 100 miles (161 km). While 2 Meters is best known as a local band, there are many possibilities for long distance (DX) communications. Occasionally, 2 Meter signals will bend in the atmosphere's troposphere; tropo ducting can allow 2-meter signals to carry hundreds of miles, even thousands. It is common for California stations to work Hawaii or Japan about once a year when tropo ducting oocurs.

Band Charts are for general information, please check your local band plan for operating privlages. For example; ARRL Band Plan or RSGB Band Plan.
